Subsea 7 awarded Tune contract

Hydro today awarded Subsea 7 a contract for the pipeline, control cable and installation for the protective structure on Tune in the North Sea. The contract - for Tune A Phase 2 - is worth some NOK 125 million.

The total contract comprises the design, procurement, construction and installation of an eight-inch flexible transport pipeline, as well as a control cable  between the Tune subsea structure and the Tune Phase 2 subsea structure, as well as the installation of the protective structure on the Tune Phase 2 field.

The design and procurement of a flexible pipeline and control cable will take place in 2004 and 2005. Installation work on the field will start in August 2005, with all work due to be completed by September 2005. The contract was won in competition with other pipeline installation companies.

Tune is a gas and condensate field located some 10 km west of the Oseberg Field Centre. Production from the Tune subsea installation is piped to Oseberg D. Tune Phase 2, which will have  one well, is a satellite of Tune Phase 1.
