The truth is that the areas we intend to explore are in ice-free waters, just like the North Sea. Statistics from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute show that these waters have been ice-free for the last 50 years in summertime. Even in winter, there have only been 10 days of ice in the last 14 years. In accordance with the requirements of Norwegian authorities, we have established an emergency preparedness system so that we can move the rig at short notice if ice should unexpectedly approach the drilling site. We do not use large fixed oil platforms, but a mobile rig that floats like a ship and is taken away after a short period of operation. We do not discharge harmful substances, and even the rainwater falling on the rig is collected and purified before being discharged into the ocean.
