Producing normally

January 17, 2003, 13:00 CET

Production is being maintained at normal levels on all but one of Statoil’s North and Norwegian Sea fields, despite the bad weather currently affecting these waters.

The sole exception is Glitne, where output has been reduced by 10,000 barrels per day to roughly 25,000 barrels.

Production on this field is being hit more severely than elsewhere because of limited storage capacity on the Petrojarl I production ship.

Offshore loading from the vessel cannot begin until 18 January, and output will have to be cut back even further if the weather worsens.

Fields in the Tampen area of the North Sea and in the Norwegian Sea are producing normally, and it has also been possible to load oil in the Norwegian Sea over the past few days.

Statoil will release further statements if other production changes are imposed by weather conditions.
