Satellites ready for the off

September 18, 1998, 09:00 CEST

The final phase of Statoil's Gullfaks satellites project in the North Sea is in full swing.

Production from the Gullfaks satellites will be piped
to the A platform on the main field.

"We're working hectically to complete everything, and hope to be ready to bring the first field on stream as planned in early October," reports project manager Øyvind Lund.

Oil will start flowing initially from Gullveig, with Rimfaks and Gullfaks South set to begin production in late October and early November.

Gullfaks A will process wellstreams from these fields which lie 10 kilometres south-west of the platform. Modifications to the platform are now being completed and flowlines connected to the eight templates installed on the satellites.
