Favourable discount and service terms have been secured by Statoil from Sun Microsystems for all 23 countries in which the group operates.
This follows a new two-year frame agreement with the computer company, which extends the existing good terms enjoyed by Statoil in Norway. The group previously had to conclude individual agreements with local dealers in other countries.
"That system gave us far less favourable conditions than we had at home and to some extent in Sweden and Denmark, where we're a big customer," explains Gunnar Handeland, contracts and purchasing manager in Information Technology's procurement unit.
"By integrating all purchases in a single contract, we now qualify for the same favourable discount schemes and level of service in every country - even where we are small."
