Siri hailed as unique

Siri was described as unique by Danish environment and energy minister Svend Auken when he officially inaugurated the Statoil field on 5 May.

This development is the first off Denmark outside the Central Graben area. Before Siri began producing on 1 March, the Danish Underground Consortium was also the only oil/gas producer in the Danish North Sea.

So the inauguration marked the start to a new era, Mr Auken observed in his speech at the ceremony outside Copenhagen. He also highlighted the good relations between Norway and Denmark.

Some 130 guests were present, including Statoil chief executive Harald Norvik, Thorvald Stoltenberg, Norway's ambassador to Denmark, and representatives from the licensees, the authorities, the employees and the suppliers.

A video on Siri received its premiere during the ceremony.

The field is currently producing some 26.000 barrels per day, but is due to reach a daily plateau of 50,000 barrels.

Normal staffing on the Siri platform is about 20 people
