New Statfjord record

March 30, 2000, 10:00 CEST

The Statfjord A platform operated by Statoil has produced continuously for 180 days, setting a Norwegian and north-west European record.

Set today, 30 March, this achievement has been notched up by one of the oldest installations operating off Norway. Statfjord A began producing more than 20 years ago.

It has produced since 1 October without power failures or other disruptions in processing equipment calling for a shutdown.

The previous record-holder was Shell's Draugen platform in the Norwegian Sea, which passed 176 days without interruption last November.

Statfjord A is currently processing about 215,000 barrels per day, including oil from Norsk Hydro's nearby Snorre field.
