Trees sold for re-use

The Xmas trees deployed on Statoil's abandoned Tommeliten gas/condensate field in the North Sea have been sold to Golar-Nor Offshore.

These units will be used on the Petrojarl 1 production and storage ship, which is to produce Statoil's Glitne field in the North Sea.

This represents the first time such equipment has been sold for re-use. All installations on the field are up for sale.

Tommeliten came on stream in the autumn of 1988 and will be finally shut in during October as the first Statoil field abandoned off Norway.

"We also expect to sell the template and the flowline to the Edda platform at a later date," says Øivind Dahl-Stamnes, manager for the licences North Sea sector in Exploration & Production Norway.

Golar-Nor Offshore is a subsidiary of Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS).
