Grane oil pipeline contract signed

January 24, 2001, 00:00 CET

Hydro has signed two orders for manufacturing and delivery of steel pipe for the 217 kilometre long, 28 inch oil export pipeline from the Grane platform to the Sture terminal.

Due to limited capacity in the steel market, Hydro has had to split the order. Approximately 50 percent has been awarded to Europipe GmbH and the other 50 percent to Mitsui & Co.

Norway AS. Mitsui represents Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC) and Sumitomo Metals Industries (SMI) in Japan.

The two contracts include each almost 50,000 tonnes of steel and have each a contract value of approximately USD 30 million.

The line pipe will be delivered at coating yard in Scotland or Norway in the period Sept. - Dec. 2001.
