Hydro today awarded Zurich-based engineering concern ABB a two-year maintenance and modifications contract covering all its North Sea oil and gas facilities. The deal is valued at NOK 1 billion (USD 110 million).

09The contract is an extension of an existing maintenance and modifications frame agreement which includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and assistance during commissioning, says Benedikt Henriksen, head of Hydro Exploration and Production's contract department.

"It is the last two-year option on the frame agreement, which was originally signed in 1994," he explains.

The contract covers Hydro's Oseberg, Brage, Troll, Visund and Njord oil and gas fields, as well as the land-based Sture oil terminal.
