Heidrun drilling contract extended

December 20, 2002, 08:15 CET

A contract extension worth some NOK 100 million for production wells on Statoil’s Heidrun field in the Norwegian Sea has been awarded to Prosafe Drilling Services.

Representing the exercise of a one-year option with the contractor, this order also includes a further option for another 12 months.

“Prosafe will be responsible for platform drilling on Heidrun for a year from 1 June 2003,” reports Øyvind Hansen, special coordinator for contracts in Exploration & Production Norway.

Five-seven wells are drilled from the field’s tension leg platform (TLP) every year, says Gunnar G Opsahl, manager for drilling and well operations on Heidrun.

Prosafe has drilled from the TLP since 1996.
