Statoil came third in the Farmand competition for best web site in 2006 among listed companies in Norway.

The Farmand prize is one of the most prestigious Norwegian awards. The jury gives Statoil credit for the large amount of information on its web site.

"The web site is easy to recognise because of the characteristic Statoil colours," the jury writes. "The site provides a great deal of information about the group's activities, and the jury emphasises in particular the financial information which gives a broad overview of the group."

"We are very pleased with the recognition of Statoil's web site, and especially the jury's emphasis on the content," says editor-in-chief Kjell Hugvik. "This will inspire us in our efforts to further improve our web site."

Hydro won the prize, and Orkla came second in the competition.
