A contract worth NOK 110 million has been awarded to Safe Service for an accommodation platform on Statoil's Åsgard development in the Norwegian Sea.
The Safe Britannia flotel, with a capacity of 554 berths, will be used during completion work on the Åsgard B gas platform.
The accommodation unit will be in place on the field by 24 April at the earliest, says Bård Himset, project manager for the B platform. This assumes that the latter has been towed from Stavanger and installed on Åsgad by that time.
Plans call for the gas floater to begin producing gas on 1 October, when the contract for Safe Britannia flotel is due to expire. Statoil will also meet the cost of mobilising and demobilising the flotel.
Safe Service is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ProSafe, the biggest platform drilling contractor in Norway's offshore sector and the world leader for accommodation and service rigs.
