Orkla deal signed

May 25, 2000, 10:00 CEST

A contract to serve as the principal supplier of oil products to Norway's Orkla industrial group has been won recently by Statoil.

Covering Scandinavia and the Baltic states, this deal with Marketing & Energy (M&E) covers the provision of heating oil, diesel oil, petrol, propane and Statoil charge cards to Orkla and its employees.

The assignment runs for three and a half years from last January, with an option to renew for a further three-year period.

Annual deliveries to Orkla will be around 30,000 cubic metres in Norway, 20,000 in Sweden, 3,000 in Denmark and 3,000 in the Baltic states.

"Orkla's an important customer, both because of the big volumes it buys and for strategic reasons," comments Tom Digerås, manager of M&E's department for key accounts in Oslo.

"This contract shows that we're able to serve customers not only in Scandinavia but also in the international markets where we're concentrating our efforts."
