The Europipe II gas trunkline will be laid through the German sector of the North Sea by European Marine Contractors (EMC) under a contract to be awarded by construction operator Statoil.
Due to start in the second half of October, this job is expected to last for three months and will reduce the workload for the original Europipe II contractor, Allseas. The latter company's Solitaire laybarge was forced to break off work earlier this summer for repairs after an accident during laying, which has resulted in a four-week delay for the project.
