Cooperation with the Red Cross

March 9, 2001, 08:00 CET

Statoil and the Norwegian Red Cross signed a cooperation agreement today, 9 March. This means that Statoil will contribute NOK 2 million annually to support emergency aid work.

The deal which was signed by Sven Mollekleiv, general secretary of the Norwegian Red Cross, and Statoil’s chief executive Olav Fjell, will last for three years.

Mr Fjell hopes that this cooperation with the Norwegian Red Cross will help to increase Statoil’s awareness and knowledge about humanitarian issues in countries where the group operates.

The financial support and collaboration with Statoil will provide the Norwegian Red Cross with greater opportunities in its extensive humanitarian work both at home and abroad.
