March 15, 2001, 00:00 CET

Hydro Energi has signed an agreement with Norwegian metals producer Fesil to assist in managing the latter's energy portfolio.

Helge Stiksrud"The agreement represents Hydro Energy's strategic plan to optimize its energy portfolio management skills by selling the services to customers," said Anne Dønnem, Hydro Energy sales and marketing manager.

Hydro has long-time risk management and energy trading experiences and expertise from supplying its own industrial facilities with power. The deal with Fesil is a natural business extension of that experience, Dønnem commented.

Fesil is a major producer of silicon metal and ferrosilicon. Its three plants in Norway use approximately 1.7 terawatt hours per year, making it one of the country's largest power consumers.
