Recruiting on the net

July 5, 2001, 21:00 CEST

A new web site, Job opportunities in Statoil, is being launched today, 5 July. The group wants to start a more efficient method of handling job applications and modernise its recruitment process.

Statoil will continue to advertise in newspapers as before, but the advertisements will now refer readers to the new web site. More details can be found there about the positions advertised, as well as information on how to send applications electronically.

The web site also contains information about Statoil's trainee programme, apprenticeship scheme, student contact and summer jobs. Details about what Statoil as an employer has to offer are also provided.

"Statoil is adopting new technology in a growing number of areas," says Kjølv E Egeland, senior vice president for human resources. "Young people especially are familiar with using the internet to find information about potential future employers and Statoil wants to be in that arena."

The actual web site is currently available in Norwegian only but all of the job descriptions are in English as well as Norwegian. An English version of the web site is planned to be launched in the autumn.
