Norsk Hydro is monitoring developments following the terrorist attacks in the US hour by hour. The company for now has not undertaken any extraordinary actions, but will take cues from authorities.
"Until further notice, we will see what the authorities decide in the countries where we operate. The security arrangements the authorities recommend will also cover our employees. In general, we recommend that our employees to take care in those parts of the world that are especially vulnerable to new attacks," says Per Anders Oksum, president of Hydro's Health, Environment and Safety area.
"What we have witnessed is terrorism, and we must act on the basis of evaluations of the authorities, who are better equipped to make such evaluations. Hydro's top management in each country has a special responsibility to follow up on the authorities' recommendations."
As of Tuesday night, Oksum said that he had not received any information that Hydro employees were directly affected by the attacks.
