Two flotels chartered

September 18, 2001, 11:00 CEST

Statoil has signed contracts with Prosafe Offshore to hire two flotels from early July to the end of October next year.

The contracts, which concern the flotels Safe Caledonia and Safe Scandinavia, are worth NOK 77 million and NOK 73 million respectively. Both contracts contain an option to extend them twice, for one month at a time.

Safe Caledonia, which sleeps 510, will be used in connection with the Sigyn satellite development and the Sleipner West compression project. Both these North Sea projects will involve considerable activity in the Sleipner area.

The Statfjord licence will charter Safe Scandinavia to cover the need for extra living quarters in connection with turnarounds and modifications on the Statfjord A and C platforms.

Thor Christian Andvik, manager for procurement in the Sleipner West compression project, says that the contracts have been coordinated between several licences which will be able to use the flotels.

"By coordinating things in this way, the price per unit is considerably lower than it would have been individually," concludes Mr Andvik. A
