More oil in Siri

September 28, 2001, 01:45 CEST

Operator Statoil has found more oil in the Siri field on the Danish continental shelf. Appraisal well 5604/20-7 is now being production tested via the Siri platform.

Well SCA-7, as it is called, has produced at a provisional rate of 23,270 barrels of oil per day. When it comes on stream, the well will produce around 10,000 barrels of oil per day. The total production from Siri will thereby increase by about 30 per cent – to around 40,000 barrels of oil per day.

The appraisal well was spudded after oil was proven in another well, Siri-4, in Palaeocene sandstone layers in an area east of the field.

SCA-7 was drilled as a horizontal well to a total length of 6898 metres from mean sea level.

Statoil has applied to the Danish authorities for approval of SCA-7 as a production well when the test production is complete.

The licensees in Siri are Statoil (40 per cent), Enterprise Oil (20 per cent), DONG (20 per cent), Phillips (12.5 per cent) and Denerco (7.5 per cent ).
