Swedish acquisition

May 27, 2002, 15:15 CEST

Statoil has bought just over 20 fully automatic diesel filling stations for heavy vehicles in Sweden from the Finnish Fortum energy group.

Marketed under the name Neste, these stations are spread throughout Sweden and are situated near special goods depots for heavy vehicles. Most were built in 2000 and 2001 and are of a high environmental standard.

Statoil took over these filling stations on 1 May. The Statoil logo will be in place in the autumn.

"This acquisition is very positive, both for Statoil and our customers. We are supplementing our network of stations for heavy vehicles and thereby further improving the service for the customers. Our aim is to be within easy reach, and the new filling stations will help to achieve this," says Joakim Säll, manager of Svenska Statoil AB.
