Production not affected by storm

January 15, 2003, 14:15 CET

The bad weather in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea has as yet not had any impact on Statoil's oil production.

There have been problems with offshore loading in the North Sea due to the stormy conditions. Loading has not been possible since the evening of Monday, 13 January.

The rough weather conditions have also created problems for the fields in the Halten/Nordland area, but Statoil expects cargo to be shipped out shortly, with only minor delays

On the Gullfaks A platform in the North Sea production has been shut down since the morning of 11 January, due to a crack in a weld in the flare system. The crack was discovered during an inspection, but is not considered serious. Output has been reduced by some 130,000 to 140,000 barrels of oil per day due to the shutdown.

Statoil expects production on Gullfaks A to start up on Thursday 16 January.

On the Visund platform, which is tied back to Gullfaks A, production was suspended from Monday to Tuesday this week while the crack was repaired. Visund produces 35,000 barrels of oil per day.

Statoil will provide further information, should the weather situation have any consequences for production.
