A contract worth some NOK 800-850 million has been awarded to the AFS-Pihl Group for civil works, foundations and construction of various process buildings for Statoil’s Snøhvit development.
Due to start in May and run until November 2005, the work will be carried out at the land plant on Melkøya island outside Hammerfest in northern Norway.
This job represents the last major contract for the facility, reports Morten Vinje, area manager in the Snøhvit organisation. Installation of plant modules is due to be awarded in the autumn.
A Dano-Norwegian joint venture, the AFS-Pihl Group is already responsible for blasting and levelling the industrial site on Melkøya and for building the export jetty.

Located in the Barents Sea, this gas and condensate field is due to come on stream in 2006.
Apart from Statoil, the licensees are TotalFinaElf, Gaz de France, Norsk Hydro, Amerada Hess, RWE-DEA, Svenska Petroleum and Petoro.
