A four-year contract worth NOK 400 million for maintenance on the two Statoil-operated Snorre platforms in the Norwegian North Sea has been awarded to Aker Kværner.
Aker Offshore Partner has primary responsibility for this work, which is due to start on 1 July. About 150 people will be involved.
The Snorre contract is a frame agreement covering maintenance and modifications on the two installations
Statoil placed similar contracts for its existing platforms in the Tampen area of the North Sea – which also embraces Snorre – with Aker Kværner last year.
The group took over as operator on Snorre from Norsk Hydro on 1 January.
With the latest contract, Statoil comes closer to its target of having a single supplier on its Tampen fields. The maintenance jobs awarded to Aker Kværner can be extended up to 2011.
