Production on stream again at Oseberg

July 10, 2003, 15:30 CEST

The Oseberg Field Centre in the North Sea is on-stream again following the production closure on 9 July. The closure, caused by an fault in the air-pressure system, was further prolonged by a minor gas leakage on the Oseberg D platform.

Oil production re-started at midnight, with gas exports being resumed early on 10 July. Stepping-up to full production will take longer than usual because closure entailed a number of technical problems that had to be solved.

Roughly 450,000 barrels of oil daily flow through the Oseberg Field Centre to the Sture terminal. Oil from Oseberg Øst and Sør will be processed on the Field Centre. Together with the Centre's own production, this represents about 300,000 barrels daily.

Brage, Oseberg C and Veslefrikk are also now piping some 150,000 barrels daily through the Field Centre to Sture. All of these fields were affected by the shut-down.
