Norsk Hydro, operator of Production Licence 036 Outside (Heimdal), has completed the drilling of exploration well 25/4-9 S. The well proved a 65-metre oil column.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 2270 metres below the surface of the sea, ending in tertiary rock. The oil column was proven in the Heimdal link, which was the main target.
The discovery, wich is expected to contain approx. 3-5 million Sm3 oil, is now being evaluated by Hydro, the operator for the production licence.
The well was drilled by the drilling installation Deepsea Delta. The well will be permanently plugged, and the drilling installation will leave the area during the course of the next few days.
