Impressed by facts in Houston

Ask what Hydro has to offer as an oil and gas company and the answer may impress you...

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas had just been kicked-off, when Hydro's President and CEO Eivind Reiten hosted a dinner reception on Monday May 3. Besides enjoying a social evening and the atmosphere of the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the 350 guests were given a presentation of key facts about Hydro as an oil and gas company and the Ormen Lange project.

Many were surprised and even impressed by the facts presented at the reception in Houston.

“Hydro operates nearly a million barrels a day. We are the fifth largest offshore, deep-water operator globally. We make use of world-class technology and have demonstrated the ability to manage large-scale projects. To us, this is the basis for creating new opportunities,” CEO Eivind Reiten said during his welcoming speech.

By building on experience and competence from Norwegian waters, Hydro is gradually expanding its international oil and gas activities. In this context, it is vital that potential partners and the international community know what Hydro has to offer. It is also important to meet with key people in the oil and energy industry to discuss possibilities for cooperation and working together.

“For some of you, Hydro might be a household name and a well-known company. Others, however, do not know us that well. And even those of you who know us pretty well, tend to be surprised by Hydro’s capabilities. We in Hydro would like to use this opportunity to get to know each other better and to discuss business development opportunities for mutual value creation worldwide,” Reiten said.

The Hydro reception coincided with the opening day of the OTC conference in Houston. Ormen Lange is present with a stand at the OTC exhibition area throughout the week. The project will also be presented at a luncheon on Tuesday May 4 and during an afternoon technical session on Wednesday May 5.
