The task of modifying the Norne production ship in connection with the development of the Stær and Svale satellites in the Norwegian Sea has been awarded to Aker Reinertsen by Statoil.
The job has been assigned under the group's existing frame agreement for maintenance and modification work in the Halten/Nordland area.
The contract, valued at just under NOK 160 million, includes the purchase and delivery of equipment, and has been signed on behalf of the partners in production licence 128.
The subsea systems on Svale and Stær will be tied back to the Norne production ship. On Svale a three-slot template and a second unit with two slots for water injection are to be installed. A combined unit with two production trees and one for injection is to be installed on Stær.
Water depth in the area is roughly 380 metres.
The development is subject to approval by the Norwegian authorities of the plan for development and operation.
The two fields are due to produce about 70,000 barrels of oil per day in total, with a planned production start in the autumn of 2005.
