Helicopter deal for Snøhvit

June 3, 2004, 11:00 CEST

A contract worth some NOK 118 million, including options, to provide helicopter services for Statoil’s Snøhvit development in the Barents Sea has been awarded to Norsk Helikopter.

This assignment will run for 16 months, with two options for two months each. In addition comes an option for a further four months which Statoil has not included in the total contract value.

Services will begin between 1 October and 1 November this year, with Norsk Helikopter providing a passenger machine and one for search and rescue.

The passenger helicopter will be fitted with de-icing equipment.

“In addition to serving Snøhvit, this contract could be used to provide helicopter services for exploration drilling in the area,” says sector manager Per Terje Svalland.

The helicopters will be based at Hammerfest airport in northern Norway.
