The partners in block 17 offshore of Angola will develop the Rosa field as a satellite linked up to the production vessel Girassol. Hydro has a ten percent share in this field.
As concessionaire for block 17, the Angolan state company Sociedade Nacional de CombustÃveis de Angola (Sonangol) recently authorized the operator Total to award the main contracts for the Rosa development. According to plan, the field will come onstream in the first half of 2007.
"This is an important milestone for Hydro. The development of the Rosa field will increase our international production and will strengthen our presence in Angola," says Knud Schlosser, Hydro's asset manager for block 17.
"We will continue to have focus on bringing forward development of the other discoveries in block 17 that have not yet been developed," adds Schlosser.
Rosa is one of 15 discoveries in block 17. This field is situated in an area of deep water 135 kilometres off the coast of Angola. The water depth here varies between 1300 and 1500 metres.
The field will be developed with 25 subsea wells. The wellstream from Rosa will be processed on the production vessel Girassol, which started production in 2001. The Jasmin field, which came onstream in December 2003, is also linked up as a satellite to this production vessel.
After modifications to accommodate production from Rosa, the processing capacity on the production vessel Girassol will increase to around 250,000 barrels a day.
The Dalia field will also start production in 2006. This field, also in block 17, will be developed with its own production vessel with a processing capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil per day.
