Standing out in international arena

August 24, 2004, 15:00 CEST

Hydro has a central place at the 16th ONS exhibition in Stavanger 24-27 August. The interface of the past, present and future in the energy sector will be shown on large screens at the company's 180 square metre stand.

"This oil exhibition is an important meeting place, and we are particularly interested in developing contacts with international players," says Hege Marie Norheim, vice president Communication in Hydro Oil & Energy.

Hydro's stand at the 16th Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) exhibition shows the breadth of the company's expertise as energy supplier.

"The exhibition highlights our expertise both in a historical perspective and as operator for current technologically challenging projects, such as Ormen Lange. We are also exhibiting realistic energy solutions for the future with a demonstration of our hydrogen and wind power project on Utsira," says Norheim.

Important meeting place
Hydro intends to spend a good deal of time during ONS with international delegations and business connections.

Already the day before the ONS conference started, attention was drawn to the international markets in a seminar organized by Norwegian Oil and Gas Partners (Intsok).

Tore Torvund, senior vice president in Hydro Oil & Energy, opened the arrangement together with Statoil's new president and CEO, Helge Lund.

International focus
The ONS conference also includes several sessions on international topics. The conference starts with a panel debate on future energy solutions in a global perspective. Hydro's president and CEO, Eivind Reiten, will be on the panel.

Senior vice president Torstein Dale Sjøtveit represents Hydro in the main ONS committee. He hopes the arrangement will exert a real effect on energy policies:

"ONS is well established as a leading international arena in the oil industry. The exhibition, conference and festival provide a unique and interesting programme. The main theme is "Shaping our energy future", and we hope we will help to do just that," says Dale Sjøtveit.
