Hydrogen on the go

November 25, 2004, 11:00 CET

A letter of intent on establishing Norway’s first filling point for vehicles running on hydrogen or natural gas has been signed today, 25 November by Statoil and six partners.

Drawn from the Stavanger area, this group is due to open the new facility at the Statoil service station adjacent to its Forus head office.

This filling point is a pilot project in the Norwegian national HyNor programme for a “hydrogen road” between Stavanger and Oslo.

Plans call for natural gas to be available as an automotive fuel at the station next year, with hydrogen following in 2006.
