Cementing Snorre well

December 2, 2004, 10:50 CET

Fifty cubic metres of cement were pumped early today, 2 December, into the well on Statoil’s Snorre A platform in the North Sea which began leaking gas on 28 November.

Isolating the gas-bearing formation, this operation means that an important goal has been reached in securing the well. The job was carried out as planned.

Downhole conditions will be kept under observation over the coming day, and the cement allowed to harden. Further steps to secure the well will then be taken.

It remains uncertain when production from Snorre A and its Vigdis satellite can resume.
