December 22, 2004, 09:00 CET

A contract worth NOK 180-240 million covering maintenance of deck cranes on the Norwegian continental shelf has been awarded by Statoil to National Oilwell Norway.

This job also covers a range of activities relating to the 47 cranes delivered by National Oilwell to the group’s installations on the NCS.

These assignments include operational support, spare parts, modifications, overhauling equipment components and training.

The contract runs for four years, with options for three additional periods of the same duration, and provides Statoil with access to qualified personnel and spare parts.

“Work will carried out in cooperation with Statoil personnel responsible for periodic preventive maintenance,” says production engineer Birger Helle.

He is Statoil’s representative for following up the contract, and explains that National Oilwell employees will be called in for heavier maintenance jobs and identification of faults.
