Snorre A work continuing

December 23, 2004, 15:30 CET

Statoil’s hopes of resuming production from Snorre A and its Vigdis satellite towards the end of the week have been frustrated by weather problems and the need for more topside checks.

The group had announced on 21 December that the platform could be back on stream by the weekend if the remaining activities were completed on schedule.

“Bad weather has prevented us from carrying out the necessary inspection of the subsea template,” explains Arne Cock, vice president for Snorre operations.

“At the same time, work on installing a topside Xmas tree has exposed weaknesses which need further investigation.”

These activities will continue towards the New Year, and Statoil will accordingly make a new announcement later on a start-up date.

The group is in good, close dialogue with the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway over the remaining work.
