A construction worker, employed by the firm Skanska, died on Tuesday evening at Molde Hospital following an accident at the Ormen Lange site at Nyhamna. The incident occurred on Tuesday at 19:00 as cracks in a rock cavern were being sealed.

"This is a tragic incident affecting all of us engaged on the Ormen Lange project. Our thoughts go first and foremost to the family of the deceased, and to his friends and colleagues in Skanska," said senior vice president Morten Ruud of Hydro Oil & Energy.

The deceased was engaged in sealing cracks in a rock cavern. A total of three persons were engaged in this work, though neither of the other two was injured in the accident.
