Statoil and Schlumberger Information Solutions (SIS) have entered into a three-year technology collaboration agreement.
Worth about NOK 100 million, the agreement entails developing new production optimisation technologies to extend the life of oil and gas fields.
In addition, the agreement covers standardisation and automation of workflows processes.
The technology will be tested in both new and already producing fields, with the ultimate goal of improving oil recovery and increasing daily production.
"The goal of the project is to develop methodology and technology that will enable us to have updated models as a tool for improved reservoir and production management," says Rolf H Utseth, vice president for the subsea improved oil recovery unit in Statoil's Technology & Projects business area.
"This collaborative project will accelerate the development of new production technologies to improve decision-making from front-end engineering to automated operations and deliver practical solutions towards the realisation of the digital oil field," says Olivier le Peuch president of SIS.
