Situation normalized after gas alarm on Heimdal

March 4, 2007, 22:00 CET

A gas alarm sounded on the Heimdal platform on Sunday, 4 March, at about 7:45 p.m.

Hot gas released during the start up of an oil heater went into the air intake of an adjacent heater and activated that unit's gas detector.

Personnel were mustered according to emergency response routines. The situation was clarified and normalized within a short period of time.

Heimdal's process facility has been shut down since Thursday, 1 March, for maintenance. The incident will not delay resumption of operation after maintenance work is completed.
