Taking Ormen Lange to OTC, Houston

April 27, 2007, 15:00 CEST

When the oil conference center in Houston again opens its doors to the public this year, Hydro will be there with a large stand, presentations and a reception for guests. The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) will be held on April 30 - May 3.

OTC, which is an annual event, is the world’s biggest conference and exhibition for the global oil industry. This year’s conference subject is entitled "Transforming the industry".

Hydro’s OTC exhibition stand is 75 square meters in size and has, as its main topic, the Ormen Lange Gas field; from its advanced sub-sea production installation to the processing plant at Nyhamna on the northwest coast of Norway to the transportation through the world’s longest pipeline to Easington, England.

A model of the construction is on display at the stand and John Thurmond, senior researcher at Hydro's Research Center in Bergen, will be present throughout the event giving presentations and showing the public the many spectacular wonders of the Hydro-operated Ormen Lange development project.

The conference opens on Monday April 30. That same evening Executive Vice President Tore Torvund, who heads Hydro' Oil & Energy business area, will welcome invited guests at a reception at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Also there John Thurmond will be giving a presentation on Ormen Lange.

On Wednesday May 2 a special session will be held about the technical side of the Ormen Lange project. Several Hydro representatives will be giving presentations on the massive construction project, which will start production in October this year - on time and within budget.
