The two framework contracts are valid for three years, with two option periods of two years for each of the framework contracts. Jointly the two contracts cover almost all StatoilHydro-operated fields in the North Sea.
Deepwell Norge AS is assigned a framework contract for wireline operations on the Statfjord, Snorre and Sleipner fields, while Aker Well Service is awarded contracts for the remaining wireline operations on the NCS, with the exception of the Morvin and Tyrihans fields.
“These contracts give us access to services that are highly important in order to maintain production in the years ahead,” says Geir Slora, head of drilling and well operations in the Exploration & Production Norway business area. “We depend on professional suppliers and we will follow the companies closely to ensure that our capacity and quality requirements are met,” he says.
Anders Opedal, head of procurements in StatoilHydro, believes that these contracts will contribute to sharper competition, which will help improve services in this area on the NCS.
“Deepwell Norge AS is a company which is relatively new to StatoilHydro, but it has excellent references,” he says.
Opedal considers the company to be highly qualified in the field of innovation and new technology.
“We know Aker Well Service well already,” says Opedal. “The company has demonstrated good HSE results over time. We also believe that this is a company which can further improve the efficiency of StatoilHydro.”
The framework contract awards are contingent on partner approval.
