New Åsgard pipelaying season

April 20, 1999, 10:00 CEST

Laying of the gas pipeline from the Åsgard field to the Kårstø gas terminal north of Stavanger was resumed this week after work was suspended during the winter.

Just over half of the 712 kilometre line was completed during last year's season up to the end of September. According to Åsgard project secretary Grethe Wanvik, the line was retrieved near Stadlandet in mid-Norway on 12 April.

The laying operation is expected to be finished by late July. Gas from Åsgard is due to be delivered to continental Europe through the Europipe II trunkline from October 2000.
