A renewed frame agreement worth some NOK 240 million for temporary administrative staff has been signed by Statoil with Manpower.
Due to come into effect on 1 November, this three-year deal - which includes options for a further two years - covers the parent company and the Scandinavian operations in Retailing & Nordic Energy (RNE).
Manpower has supplied temps to Statoil under an existing contract since 1995, and won the renewal in competition with three other bidders.
The new agreement covers a substantially smaller volume than its predecessor despite being extended to cover RNE, reports Jan Oddvar Gjerde, manager for temp agency services.
Its estimated value corresponds to an average of just over 200 work-years. This reflects the future reduction in parent company activity, Mr Gjerde notes.
"Our own employees will be able to cover the need for temporary staff to a greater extent than before as a result of our restructuring programme."
RNE in Norway, Sweden and Denmark accounts for roughly half the value of the contract, says Mr Gjerde.
Experience suggests that an arrangement with just one supplier of temp services functions well for everyone concerned, he adds.
Before the first exclusive contract of this kind was concluded five years ago, the group used different suppliers at its various Scandinavian offices.
The frame agreement is in line with the goal of concluding contracts which cover a large part of the group.
