Duster on Fylla

September 11, 2000, 18:00 CEST

The Qulleq-1 wildcat on Statoil's Fylla licence west of Greenland has been completed without finding oil or gas.

Spudded on 10 July, this 6354/4-1 well was drilled by West Navion to a depth of 2,937 metres below sea level.

It will be permanently plugged and abandoned once all logging has been completed.

"We'll now be evaluating the results and will decide on their consequences for further activity. We are seeking to postpone our report to the authorities from 15 December to 15 March 2001, in order to make a thorough evaluation," says Ã…non Spinnangr, Statoil's exploration manager for Greenland.

Fylla lies 140 kilometres west of the capital, Nuuk, and the wildcat was drilled in 1,152 metres of water.
