Hydro sponsors "Lady from the Sea" play

May 2, 2003, 13:00 CEST

The work, by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, will be performed at the prestigious Almeida Theatre in London starting in May.

Hydro will sponsor the theater’s re-opening production, "Lady from the Sea", a play set in a small town in northern Norway.

The play, directed by Trevor Nunn with Natasha Richardson playing the title role, opens May 8.

Eivind Reiten, president and CEO of Norsk Hydro, says:

"It is a great pleasure to be associated with the Almeida, which has such a strong reputation both in the UK and internationally. And as Norway’s largest industrial company, it is exciting for us to be involved with such a high profile production of the work of one of our country’s best-loved playwrights."

Rick Haythornthwaite, chairman of the Almeida's Board of Trustees, says: "I am delighted to welcome Norsk Hydro on board as production sponsors of "Lady from the Sea", the inaugural production at our refurbished theatre."

"I cannot think of a partner better suited to support this fabulous play, at a time that is arguably the most important moment in our history."

A press night is scheduled for May 15. For more information, contact Sue Vincent, Norsk Hydro UK corporate communications manager, at +44 20 8255 2584 or sue.vincent@hydro.com
