Selling gas to Essent

February 26, 2004, 08:00 CET

A gas sales agreement covering the delivery of up to 1.4 billion cubic metres per year has been concluded by Statoil with Dutch energy company Essent.

These volumes will be supplied via Statoil’s terminal at Emden in Germany for a period of roughly five years starting at the end of this year. Statoil is to deliver a total of about 6.5 billion cubic metres over the period.

“We’re pleased to have put this contract in place,” says Jan Schøpp, the group’s gas marketing manager for the Benelux area.

“It shows that we’re continuing to strengthen our position in the European gas market.”

Essent will supply its end-user portfolio with this gas which forms part of its increasing international gas sourcing.

Statoil and Essent have also concluded gas sales agreements on earlier occasions.
