These are important factors contributing to the success of an oil and energy company. Being present at the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston May 3-6 is one way of achieving this.
The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), gathering more than 50,000 attendees and about 2,000 companies exhibiting from 110 countries, has become one of the most important meeting places for the oil and gas industry worldwide. This year Hydro will be an active player at the scene in Houston.
Hydro’s activities will start at the opening day of the OTC, with Hydro CEO Eivind Reiten hosting a dinner reception at Houston Museum of Natural Science. More than 200 guests from other oil and energy related companies, contractors, suppliers, business associates as well as authorities, have signed up for this event.
Focusing on Ormen Lange
The Ormen Lange project is of great interest to the rest of the industry.
On Tuesday May 4, Senior Vice President Bengt Lie Hansen, will present the Ormen Lange Project at a traditional luncheon being held by the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC). On the same day, Hydro will also present the Fram project, Hydro’s latest sub sea development, during the Subsea Tieback technical session of the conference.
One of the afternoon technical sessions on Wednesday May 5 is entirely dedicated to the Ormen Lange project; featuring Bengt Lie Hansen, Head of the Ormen Lange project, as keynote speaker. A number of other Hydro and Shell representatives will present specific and challenging Ormen Lange aspects.
Ormen Lange will also be present with a stand in the exhibition area throughout the OTC week in Houston.

Ormen Lange is a huge gas field on a global scale and Hydro’s largest single project ever, with a total estimated cost of NOK 66 billion (equivalent to just over USD 9 billion). The Ormen Lange field will produce at 1,100 meters below the surface and supply the UK with 20% of their total gas demand.
