Snøhvit contract with AF Pihl extended

June 9, 2006, 11:00 CEST

Statoil has signed a supplementary contract with AF Pihl for commissioning work related to Hammerfest LNG at Melkøya. Worth about NOK 150 million, this contract runs for one year.

The contract with AF Pihl covers commissioning of all construction work as well as road-building and levelling on Melkøya outside Hammerfest until the summer of 2007.

”This is a continuation of the work performed by AF Pihl at Melkøya from the construction work started in 2002. The company is therefore familiar with the facilities,” says Jens Roar Nilsen, responsible for this contract area in Statoil.

The contract will provide jobs for some 65 people.

”We are particularly pleased that AF Pihl will continue to use local suppliers for this contract,” Mr Nilsen says.

Hammerfest LNG will process and cool down gas from Snøhvit to liquefied natural gas (LNG) from December 2007. Statoil is the operator of the Snøhvit development and operations.
