Gas export from Oseberg resumed

March 8, 2007, 07:30 CET

Gas export from the Oseberg Field Center was resumed at about 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, after a turbine breakdown and resulting fire on the Oseberg D platform Tuesday night. Oil production from the Oseberg Field Center resumed early Wednesday morning and was expected to reach normal output during the course of the day.

Oil production from the Brage, Oseberg C, Veslefrikk, Oseberg Øst (East) and Oseberg Sør (South) installations was also stopped on Tuesday night.

Production from Oseberg C, Brage and Veslefrikk was restarted late Tuesday night, while production from Oseberg Øst and Oseberg Sør was simultaneously restarted on the Oseberg Field Center at 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The Oseberg Field Center has several gas export compressors that can handle necessary gas export until the damaged turbine compressor is back in operation.

An investigative group from Hydro has started work to determine the cause of the incident on the Oseberg Field Center.

The incident was reported to the proper authorities in accordance with regulatory routines.
