Station 100 in Poland

February 1, 2000, 14:00 CET

The 100th service station operated by Statoil Polska in Poland is being officially inaugurated today, 1 February.

In operation since 29 November, this facility becomes the sixth run by the group in Lodz, Poland's second largest city.

Statoil has the largest presence of the foreign companies which own roughly 600 service stations in this east European country.

Poland currently has 6,200 forecourts, a decline of roughly 300 from last year. This contraction primarily reflects the closure of many smaller stations.

The leading players in the Polish service station sector are the Polish Oil Company (PKN) and Rafineria Gdanska, with 2,007 and 250 outlets respectively.
